River Tu, LPC, LCDC

(They/Them/Their)

Hello and welcome! I am honored you want to learn more. I am going to take some time to tell you a little bit about myself so you can determine if we will be a good match, because feeling safe and sharing a trusting connection with your therapist is important in fostering growth and healing.

First and foremost, I believe the professional relationship we form together is the building block for the connection that is needed to change, grow, and evolve. My role as a therapist is to set up a safe and affirming space for you to tell your story and for you to explore ways to unlock your hidden gems.

I am a sex positive therapist with strong ties to the kink, non-monogamous, queer, and trans communities. This makes me acutely aware and up-to-date on the challenges of intersecting identities, and allows me to take a personalized, trauma-informed, approach to therapy.

Although my focus is working with gender and sexual minorities, I do work with other folx as well. I have experience working with people diagnosed with C-PTSD, anxiety related disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, and addiction.

The foundation of my counseling style is rooted in the belief that you have the inner wisdom to transform your life. My approach is compassion focused, affirming, and straight forward. I utilize mindfulness, DBT, CBT, ACT, and EMDR practices to guide you to access the information you need.
